snow

For nearly my entire life I’ve traveled to the mountains in winter. After trekking on a glacier in Alaska, after several backcountry hikes in the Sierras, I began to see the snow differently. The more I explored, the deeper I looked, the more I found sculptural vignettes of mesmerizing variety and beauty. In 2021 I began a regular project of capturing that beauty, photographing snow resembling everything from oozing liquid, crop circles, cave paintings and brushed paint, to rolling waves, the lunar surface, windswept sand and the ocean floor. The more I explore, the more my mind opens and my compositions expand. Every expedition yields unexpected discoveries.
